MiR-675 is over-expressed in patients with prostate cancer

چکیده
Abnormal expression of miR-675 has been found in various human tumors. However, the expression pattern of miR-675 in prostate cancer patients and its clinical significance remain largely elusive. In the present study, we evaluated the expression status of miR-675 gene in 83 prostate cancer patients and 40 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) cases using real-time quantitative PCR. The results revealed that miR-675 was significantly overexpressed in prostate cancer patients compared with BPH controls (P<0.001). No significant difference between miR-675 over-expressed and low-expressed cases could be observed in age, differentiation grade, tumor size, lymph nodes stage, metastasis status, Gleason score or serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis of miR-675 expression showed a great performance in distinguishing prostate cancer patients from controls with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.933 (P<0.001). Our data suggest that the over-expression of miR-675 is a frequent event and might be a valuable diagnostic biomarker combination with PSA in prostate cancer patients.

Association Study of miR-124-a-3 Gene rs34059726 Polymorphism with Prostate Cancer in Gonbad Kavous
Background: MiRNAs are one of the most important genetic regulators that regulate more than 50 percent of the human genome. MiR-124-a-3 is a tumor suppressor miRNA which its expression dramatically reduced in prostate cancer tumor cells. Since miRNA binding to the transcript of target genes by seed sequence, any mutations and changes in this region could be effective on its performance and iden...
متن کاملOver-expression of miR-675 in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues of breast cancer patients.
BACKGROUND Dysregulation of miR-675 has been found in a variety of solid tumors. MiR-675 has been suggested as having both oncogenic and tumor suppression properties in cancer. However, there is no evidence whether miR-675 is involved in breast cancer. The objective of this study was to evaluate the expression status of miR-675 and its clinical relevance in breast cancer patients. METHODS The...
متن کاملMiR-675-5p supports hypoxia induced epithelial to mesenchymal transition in colon cancer cells
The survival rates in colon cancer patients are inversely proportional to the number of lymph node metastases. The hypoxia-induced Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition (EMT), driven by HIF1α, is known to be involved in cancer progression and metastasis. Recently, we have reported that miR-675-5p promotes glioma growth by stabilizing HIF1α; here, by use of the syngeneic cell lines we investigate...

Introduction: Considering the limitations of the common diagnostic test for prostate cancer prostate cancer, the introduction of higher-specific biomarkers for a more accurate and timely diagnosis of prostate cancer is desired. In this study, we aimed to investigate the miR-200 family (miR-200a, miR-200b, miR-200c, miR-141, and miR-429) and their target genes using bioinformatics prediction too...
متن کاملPSA Screening in Prostate Cancer
Introduction: Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in Iranian men. PSA(prostate specific antigen) screening is a controversial issue because PSA screening leads to diagnose of patients with low risk prostate cancer who not only do not benefit from treatment but also suffer from complication caused by treatment. On the other hand, without prostate cancer screening, the rate of meta...
